This module features highly visual classification and decision trees that enable you to present categorical results in an intuitive manner, so you can more clearly explain categorical analysis to non-technical audiences.

  • Direct Marketing helps marketers perform various kinds of analyses easily, without requiring a detailed understanding of statistics. Gain a better understanding of your customers, improve your marketing campaigns and maximize the ROI of your marketing budget.

  • Exact Tests enables you to use small samples and still feel confident about the results. With the money saved using smaller sample sizes, you can conduct surveys or test direct marketing programs more often. More than 30 exact tests, which cover the entire spectrum of nonparametric and categorical data problems for small or large datasets, are included.

  • Forecasting enables analysts to predict trends and develop forecasts quickly and easily—without being an expert statistician. IBM SPSS Forecasting has the advanced statistical techniques needed to work with time-series data regardless of your level of expertise.

  • Missing Values finds relationships between any missing values in your data and other variables. Missing data can seriously affect your models and your results. Used by survey researchers, social scientists, data miners and market researchers to validate data.

  • Neural Networks offers non-linear data modelling procedures that enable you to discover more complex relationships in your data. Choose from algorithms that can be used for classification (categorical outcomes) and prediction (numerical outcomes) to develop more accurate and effective predictive models that provide deeper insight and better decision making.

  • Regression enables you to predict categorical outcomes and apply a wide range of nonlinear regression procedures. Effective where ordinary regression techniques are limiting or inappropriate: For example, studying consumer buying habits or responses to treatments, measuring academic achievement, and analysing credit risks.

Please note that the Statistics software is available as a desktop version and a server version

IBM SPSS Text Analytics For Surveys

Transform your unstructured survey data into quantitative data and discover insights using sentiment analysis.

IBM SPSS Text Analytics for Surveys uses powerful natural language processing (NLP) technologies specifically designed for survey text helping you uncover patterns in the attitudes, beliefs and opinions of others.. It leads the way in unlocking open-ended responses for better insight and statistical analysis.

Survey analysts can automate the categorization process, providing greater value to business users and survey research clients without the drudgery, time and expense associated with manual coding.

IBM SPSS Modeler

While the powerful predictive analytics of Statistics is applied to testing hypotheses, the modelling family is the set of technologies designed primarily for creating models that predict future outcomes. Modelling, also known as data mining, helps organisations take seemingly unrelated data and find hidden relationships in data. Using these models, an organisation can look into the future and understand what will happen in any current or future case based on what has happened before. From predicting which offer will have the most impact, to understanding and preventing churn, the modelling family helps people consistently make decisions, maximizing the results. This process repeatability makes modelling a powerful tool for embedding best practices inside the systems and processes of a business.

There are two versions of Modeler available, namely Professional and Premium, each of which are discussed below:

IBM SPSS Modeler Professional

IBM SPSS Modeler is a powerful, versatile data mining workbench that helps analysts build accurate predictive models quickly and intuitively, without programming.

Discover hidden relationships in structured data stored in databases, mainframe data systems, flat files or within your Cognos Business Intelligence environment – and predict the outcome of future events and interactions. Modeler’s easy-to-use graphical interface puts the power of data mining in the hands of business users to discover new insight and increase productivity – allowing the organization to quickly realize a positive return on investment (ROI).

IBM SPSS Modeler Premium

IBM SPSS Modeler Premium integrates text analysis, entity analytics and social network analytics capabilities that extend the power of its key predictive tool and use the critical insights locked in unstructured data in a robust manner.

Sophisticated text analytics enables you to unlock concepts trapped in unstructured data. Then combine the structured and unstructured data to improve model accuracy. Entity analytics allows you to combine diverse data sources and resolve like entities – even when the entities do not share any key values. Social network analysis helps you discover relationships among social entities and the implications of their behaviour.

The Modeler software is available in both a Desktop and a Server version

IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services

IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services can help an organisation to deploy analytical resources more effectively, applying them in the context of the broader IT stack where they can make the biggest impact.

The Collaboration and Deployment Services platform is a flexible enterprise-level foundation for managing and deploying analytics. It has three key functions:

  • Collaboration:
Collaboration is the key to developing and implementing analytics throughout the enterprise. IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services enables the sharing and reusing of assets efficiently, protecting them in ways that meet internal and external compliance requirements, and publishing results so that a greater number of business users can view and interact with results.
  • Automation:
Automation enables your organisation to make analytics a core component of daily decision-making processes. You can construct flexible analytical processes that can be operationalized, ensuring consistent results. You also have the tools you need to govern analytical environments just as you manage other business processes.
  • Deployment:
Deployment bridges the gap between analytics and action by enabling organisations to operationalize analytics, which means embedding analytic results in front-line business processes. Linkage between IBM Collaboration and Deployment Services and other IBM SPSS products, such as Decision Management, supports the automation of recommendations and tactical decisions. Integration with your existing infrastructure, using standard programming tools and interfaces, makes combining these technologies efficient for IT to deploy and manage and also eases the learning curve for users.

IBM SPSS Decision Management

IBM SPSS Decision Management combines predictive analytics and business rules to optimize and automate the millions of small decisions made every day. Users increase the positive outcomes of good decisions, and minimize the negative impact of bad decisions. SPSS Decision Management harnesses the power of a variety of technologies that IBM offers, such as data mining, business intelligence, rules, event processing, data management, and then blends them all together. It facilitates the ability to create web-based, business user applications that are designed for a specific business problem.

These applications help business people participate in the use of predictive analytics to meet their challenges. No longer is the business solely reliant on back-office data analysts, data miners, or expert statisticians. The business can now use the power of predictive analytics and other critical enterprise technologies to create models to optimize outcomes at the point of interaction.

All this technology is wrapped in a graphical user interface (GUI), using language that is familiar and meaningful to the business user. Business can automate and optimize everyday decisions through a completely configurable solution template so that every decision is tailored and focused on the point of interaction (for example, website or contact center).

A key advantage is that the insight and skills of the analyst are not lost, because after the initial model is built by the business user, the analysts can apply their technical skills to fine-tune the results. The best part is that the insight gained from these decisions can be rolled back into the enterprise, creating a virtuous cycle or a closed loop system in which decisions grow more effective with each iteration.
